Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs, wrist) will need to undergo wrist surgery, which is why he was placed on the Reserve/Injured list, according to a source.

Huddle Up: Jamaal Williams and Aaron Jones will receive most of the work at running back for the rest of the season. Williams is coming off a terrific Week 12 performance and should receive a majority of the work in Week 13. He can be a No. 2 running back or flex option this week.

  • Posted: 12/1/2017 2:26pm ET

The Green Bay Packers placed RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) on the Reserve/Injured list Friday, Dec. 1, and signed WR Michael Clark to the active roster.

Huddle Up: Montgomery has had a multiple-week ribs injury and the team has decided to shut him down. Aaron Jones (knee) is questionable for Week 13, so it might be all Jamaal Williams against the Bucs if Jones cannot go.

  • Posted: 12/1/2017 8:12am ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) has been ruled out for Week 13.

Huddle Up: Aaron Jones (knee) could be back, which would cloud Jamaal Williams' stock a bit. If Jones doesn't play, Williams is an RB2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If both play, Williams has the slight edge as a flex play.

  • Posted: 11/29/2017 2:25pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 29, contrary to a previous report, and RB Ty Montgomery (ribs, wrist) sat out of practice.

Huddle Up: Jones is more likely to play than Montgomery, clearly, but both could be sidelined for another week. If that is the case, Jamaal Williams will be featured again and demand RB2 consideration after a top RB1 performance in Week 12.

  • Posted: 11/24/2017 2:06pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) missed practice for the third straight day Friday, Nov. 24, and he is being considered doubtful to play in the team's Week 12 game Sunday, Nov. 26, against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Huddle Up: Montgomery missed Week 11, and considering he hasn't practiced all week, it seems like there's no chance he plays on Sunday night. Aaron Jones (knee) is also set to miss this week's contest, so Jamaal Williams will be the guy to own from Green Bay's backfield, but that's more volume-based than anything else. He's logged more than 20 carries in each of his last two games.

  • Posted: 11/23/2017 11:17am ET

Green Bay Packers RBs Ty Montgomery (ribs) and Aaron Jones (knee) did not practice Thursday, Nov. 23.

Huddle Up: Montgomery and Jones are long shots to play this week, meaning Jamaal Williams will get another crack at being the Packers' featured running back. He's a fringe RB2 or flex consideration in a rough matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

  • Posted: 11/17/2017 1:35pm ET

Green Bay Packers RBs Aaron Jones (knee) and Ty Montgomery (ribs) have each been ruled out for Week 11 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Huddle Up: With Jones and Montgomery on the shelf the full workload in the backfield will go to Jamaal Williams. Fantasy owners of Jones and Montgomery are missing out, as the Ravens rank 28th in the league against the run, giving up 125.9 yards per game with 20 runs of nine or more yards allowed this season.

  • Posted: 11/17/2017 8:18am ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) is likely to miss Week 11, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. It's likely a week-to-week injury, but McCarthy said there's no long-term concern.

Huddle Up: Jamaal Williams is likely to see the lion's share of work against the Baltimore Ravens. Devante Mays is behind him on the depth chart, but neither of them project well in the receiving game. Maybe fullback Aaron Ripkowski lends a hand there. The Baltimore Ravens are a midrange matchup, and Williams is the only one pegged for enough volume to be flex-worthy in fantasy.

  • Posted: 11/16/2017 10:50am ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) was not able to practice for a second straight day Thursday, Nov. 16.

Huddle Up: As is the case with Aaron Jones, Montgomery's prospects won't look good for the weekend if he can't practice tomorrow. Keep tabs on their situation heading into the weekend, but have Jamaal Williams ready to plug into starting lineups.

  • Posted: 11/15/2017 1:00pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 15.

Huddle Up: As stated with Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams stands to be featured this week if Montgomery and Jones aren't able to take the field. Keep tabs on their statuses as the week progresses, but be prepared to plug in Williams as an RB2 or RB3.

  • Posted: 11/13/2017 1:51pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) appears to have a chance to play in the team's Week 11 game, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to monitor Montgomery's practice participation this week to see if he will be in uniform for Week 11. His availability likely will depend on his pain tolerance. Owners should look to add Jamaal Williams if he is available since he likely will receive most of the work at running back this week. Montgomery would be a risky fantasy option if he plays.

  • Posted: 11/12/2017 11:46am ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) left the team's game early in Week 10 because of injured ribs.

Huddle Up: Montgomery and Aaron Jones suffered injuries during the game, so Jamaal Williams is now the No. 1 running back for the Packers. Owners will need to look for any updates on Jones and Montgomery over the next day or two. Williams will be a popular waiver wire claim if he takes over the starting job.

  • Posted: 11/6/2017 9:41pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery logged 33 rushing yards on five attempts in the team's Week 9 defeat Monday, Nov. 6, versus the Detroit Lions. He also caught his only target for 18 yards.

Huddle Up: If there's a silver lining to this, it's that Montgomery topped 50 total yards in a game for the first time since Week 2. Still, this isn't what his owners were expecting this season when they invested an early-round pick on the 24-year-old. It's too hard to trust him right now, and as a result, he's really only merely a flex play in deeper formats.

  • Posted: 11/4/2017 1:02pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs, wrist) fully participated in practice Saturday, Nov. 4, and is not on the injury report for Week 9.

Huddle Up: Montgomery likely will serve as the No. 2 running back and will see limited touches during the game. Owners in all leagues should be able to find better options to use.

  • Posted: 11/3/2017 2:24pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs, wrist) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 3.

Huddle Up: Montgomery has lost his starting job to Aaron Jones and probably will see limited touches against the Detroit Lions. Montgomery could be a flex option in some fantasy leagues with six teams on bye, but he can be avoided in most leagues.

  • Posted: 11/2/2017 2:47pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs, wrist) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 2.

Huddle Up: Montgomery has lost his starting job to Aaron Jones but should still receive some touches this week against the Detroit Lions. He could be a flex option in some deeper leagues with six teams on bye, but owners in most leagues probably have better options available.

  • Posted: 10/22/2017 3:02pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery rushed for six yards on four carries against the New Orleans Saints in Week 7. He also caught one pass for nine yards during the game.

Huddle Up: Montgomery appears to have lost the starting running back job and was not involved in the passing game much either. He likely will post better numbers in the next game but should only be a flex option in some leagues.

  • Posted: 10/20/2017 1:52pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) was able to practice in full Friday, Oct. 20, and he was lifted off the injury report ahead of the Week 7 game against the New Orleans Saints.

Huddle Up: Montgomery and Aaron Jones should see a healthy workload with a more run-heavy offense as the team breaks in Brett Hundley under center. Use Montgomery as a solid RB2 or flex option, as there will be plenty of touches even if he splits the load evenly.

  • Posted: 10/19/2017 2:12pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 19.

Huddle Up: Montgomery received 11 touches last week and recorded only 31 total yards. He probably will continue to share work with Aaron Jones and may see some more targets in passing game. Owners can consider him a flex option in most fantasy leagues because of the favorable matchup.

  • Posted: 10/18/2017 2:05pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Huddle Up: Montgomery hasn't been fully supplanted from his starting gig by Aaron Jones, but Jones seems to be the better backfield choice right now. They both lose some value with Aaron Rodgers gone, but Montgomery does deserve a starting spot in a plus matchup against the New Orleans Saints.

  • Posted: 10/15/2017 3:57pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery rushed 10 times for 28 yards in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings while adding one catch for three yards.

Huddle Up: The good news is that Montgomery didn't seem to have any ill effects of the rib injury which kept him sidelined recently. The bad news is that Aaron Jones emerged as a solid replacement and the duo now appear to be sharing backfield touches. With Aaron Rodgers leaving early due to injury and likely out for Week 7 and beyond, look for the Packers run game to be relied upon more heavily going forward.

  • Posted: 10/14/2017 9:17pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) is listed as questionable but is expected to play without limitations against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 6, according to a source.

Huddle Up: It will be interesting to see if the emergence of Aaron Jones has an impact on Montgomery's workload, but Montgomery can at least be deployed as a flex option against the Vikings.

  • Posted: 10/13/2017 2:37pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 13, but is listed as questionable for Week 6.

Huddle Up: Montgomery appears to have a good chance to play this week but may be limited if he is active. He probably will share playing time with Aaron Jones and may come off the bench during the game. He is a risky option for owners because his role is uncertain at this point but could be a flex option in some deeper leagues.

  • Posted: 10/13/2017 10:51am ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) has yet to be tackled to the ground in practice since suffering his broken ribs in Week 4, but he did take some contact to his ribs during a full contact practice Thursday, Oct. 12. The team doesn't believe the flak jacket and extra padding Montgomery will need to wear around his ribs presents a ball-security issue, but ESPN's Rob Demovsky believes the Packers will limit his snaps in the event he is cleared for Week 6 anyway.

Huddle Up: It looks as though Aaron Jones will get at least one more game to show he can at least be Montgomery's committee partner, although the Minnesota Vikings figure to be his stiffest test yet. Montgomery's role - assuming he is cleared - appears to be completely in the air right now given his injury, so he is a risky play in fantasy, so it is advisable to watch this thing play out and reassess in Week 7.

  • Posted: 10/12/2017 6:18pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) said he 'felt fine' after taking some hits to his ribs during practice Thursday, Oct. 12, and feels comfortable wearing a protective flack jacket.

Huddle Up: Montgomery appears to be on track to play in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings, but he will likely surrender some touches to Aaron Jones. Even if Montgomery doesn't return to his pre-injury workload, he should still provide value as a flex play.

  • Posted: 10/12/2017 3:47pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

Huddle Up: It appears that Montgomery is on track to play this week but probably would have to share playing time with Aaron Jones after Jones' terrific Week 5 performance. He would be involved in the running and passing game if he plays and can be considered a flex option in most leagues.

  • Posted: 10/11/2017 2:19pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) was able to take part in a full practice session Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Huddle Up: Montgomery appears to be on track to return for Sunday's game in Minnesota. It will be interesting to see how head coach Mike McCarthy reincorporates Montgomery back into the fold after the emergence of Aaron Jones last week in Dallas.

  • Posted: 10/8/2017 5:52am ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) is not expected to play in Week 5's game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Huddle Up: Montgomery was a limited practice participant throughout the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. Jamaal Williams and Aaron Jones will likely share carries if Montgomery is deactivated, with Williams expected to see the bulk of the action.

  • Posted: 10/6/2017 2:12pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) took part in a limited practice Friday, Oct. 6, but he is listed as doubtful for Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Huddle Up: Montgomery appears to be on track to sit on Sunday, meaning Jamaal Williams is likely to shoulder a majority of the load. Williams was able to participate in full all week after a knee injury forced him out of Week 4's game. He is your alternative if you normally rely upon Montgomery.

  • Posted: 10/5/2017 3:39pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 5.

Huddle Up: Montgomery appears to have a chance to play this week but his status likely will depend on his pain tolerance. He may not receive his normal workload if he plays in Week 5 but could be at least a flex option in leagues.

  • Posted: 10/4/2017 3:47pm ET

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 4.

Huddle Up: Montgomery's availability for Week 5 may depend on his pain tolerance with his injured ribs. Owners will know more about his situation later in the week, but he could be limited if he is active for the game. He will be a risky option for owners this week.

  • Posted: 10/3/2017 8:29pm ET

Green Bay Packers Ty Montgomery (ribs) is heading into Week 5 under the impression he will suit up against the Dallas Cowboys despite breaking multiple ribs on the first play of his team's Week 4 win over the Chicago Bears. 'I?m going into this week as if I?m going to play. ? I'm not willing to risk my overall long-term health, but at the end of the day, it's going to be up to me,' Montgomery said.

Huddle Up: The Green Bay backfield has the potential to be a mess this week with Montgomery likely a game-time decision and Jamaal Williams expecting to play through a left knee injury, leaving present and future owners of Aaron Jones in a bit of a bind. Ultimately, Jones will probably be the best bet of the bunch since he will have the most practice reps of the three, although he figures to be a low-end flex at best with a low floor if Montgomery starts and can play through the pain.

  • Posted: 10/3/2017 7:50am ET

Updating previous reports, Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) said he has multiple broken ribs, but he is feeling better.

Huddle Up: Even if he plays in Week 5, he comes with big risk. Aaron Jones played well in Montgomery's absence, and he'll likely tote the load against the Dallas Cowboys as a flex option in fantasy.

  • Posted: 9/29/2017 4:40pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery's (rib) rib injury is not as serious as initially believed, and he is considered day-to-day, according to a source. He has a chance to play in the team's Week 5 game.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to check on Montgomery's practice participation next week to see if he has a chance to play. He likely would wear extra padding to protect his rib if he plays in Week 5 and could see less carries than usual. He would be a No. 2 running back if he plays against the Dallas Cowboys.

  • Posted: 9/28/2017 7:59pm ET

Updating an ongoing story, Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) broke his ribs on the first play against the Chicago Bears in Week 4, and the team is unsure how long he will be out.

Huddle Up: With uncertainty surrounding the status of Montgomery and Jamaal Williams, Aaron Jones should be a popular waiver wire add going into Week 5.

  • Posted: 9/28/2017 7:12pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (ribs) suffered broken ribs against the Chicago Bears in Week 4 and will not return, according to sources.

Huddle Up: It remains to be seen how much time Montgomery will miss, but Jamaal Williams should be scooped up where available. If Williams is allowed to lead the backfield, he would have RB2 potential.

  • Posted: 9/28/2017 5:33pm ET

Green Bay Packers WR Ty Montgomery (chest) suffered a chest injury in Week 4 and is considered questionable to return.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to keep eye on the situation to see if Montgomery will be able to return to the game. Jamaal Williams likely would take over at running back if Montgomery misses time and would be at least a flex option.

  • Posted: 9/27/2017 1:45pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (wrist) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Huddle Up: Montgomery will be fine for Thursday night's tilt with the Chicago Bears. If the game script goes according to plan, Montgomery should see plenty of opportunities to achieve RB1 numbers.

  • Posted: 9/26/2017 2:20pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (wrist) was a full participant in practice Tuesday, Sept. 26.

Huddle Up: Montgomery has been one of the most heavily used running backs in the NFL this year, so it's promising that he's already practicing fully on a short week. He remains in the RB1 conversation with more appeal via PPR scoring.

  • Posted: 9/25/2017 2:21pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (wrist) was a limited practice participant Monday, Sept. 25. The Packers did not actually practice; this practice participation designation is an estimation.

Huddle Up: Montgomery is the indubitable workhorse in the Packers' backfield this year, so bumps and bruises are to be expected. There has been no indication that he is at risk of missing Thursday night's contest, so keep him in those starting lineups for now.

  • Posted: 9/24/2017 7:27pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery rushed 12 times for 35 yards in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals and he added eight receptions for just 15 yards on 12 targets. He left briefly due to a dislocated finger, but returned later after having it popped back into place.

Huddle Up: The Packers were adamant on getting Montgomery the ball, and the Bengals were adamant about making someone else beat them early on. He'll look for much better results in Week 4 against the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football.

  • Posted: 9/20/2017 8:44pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery figures to receive less work in the weeks ahead, according to Michael Cohen of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Montgomery has played more snaps (139) than any other running back in the NFL -- putting him on pace for 1,112 -- and there have been just four tailbacks who logged more than 900 snaps in a season over the last five years. Head coach Mike McCarthy said he's 'definitely aware of it' and added, 'That's what game plans are for.'

Huddle Up: That last line is key, as the Packers have started out the season against two of the NFC's best teams (Seahawks and Falcons), which probably required such heavy usage of Montgomery. When the Packers play lesser opponents, it looks like Montgomery's work will be scaled back a bit to preserve his health, especially since this is his first full season as a running back. Either way, the former wide receiver has solidified himself as a legit RB1 in the early going.

  • Posted: 9/17/2017 9:56pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery rushed 10 times for 35 yards and a touchdown in Week 2 at Atlanta and he added six receptions for 75 yards and a score on seven targets.

Huddle Up: Montgomery was one of the more reliable receivers for Aaron Rodgers once Jordy Nelson left the game due to a quadriceps injury. It was a great night for fantasy owners of Montgomery across the board. He'll look to carry the momentum into Week 3 against Cincinnati at Lambeau Field.

  • Posted: 9/10/2017 8:51pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery carried 19 times for 54 yards and a touchdown and caught four passes for 39 yards in a 17-9 win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1.

Huddle Up: Although Montgomery didn't have any explosive runs, he did dominate the backfield touches. He should be a safe RB2 play against Atlanta in Week 2.

  • Posted: 8/24/2017 10:40am ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (leg) is expected to play this week versus the Denver Broncos, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.

Huddle Up: Don't expect Montgomery to play much so as to not aggravate whatever leg injury he had. Assuming he doesn't suffer any setbacks, he remains an RB2 candidate with increased appeal in PPR leagues.

  • Posted: 8/22/2017 2:56pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (leg) returned to practice Tuesday, Aug. 22, after being sidelined last week with a lower leg injury.

Huddle Up: Montgomery will start the season as somewhat of an underrated PPR running back. He'll be the starting running back for one of the highest scoring teams in the NFL and essentially caught 44 passes in 11 games last season. Consider TyMont a high-end PPR RB2.

  • Posted: 8/16/2017 6:33pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (leg) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Aug. 16.

Huddle Up: Montgomery could be held out of the second preseason game because of his injury but has a few weeks to prepare for the regular season. He will be the starting running back for the Packers this season and will continue to be used in the passing game. He will be a solid No. 2 running back in all leagues.

  • Posted: 8/15/2017 3:16pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery (leg) missed practice Tuesday, Aug. 15, due to a soft tissue injury on his lower leg. Montgomery added that the ailment is nothing to worry about.

Huddle Up: Montgomery is a polarizing figure in the fantasy community this year. If he can hold onto the starting job in the backfield and stay healthy, he has low-end RB1 upside in PPR formats. In any case, Jamaal Williams is a recommended handcuff.

  • Posted: 7/31/2017 12:29pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery is the 'full package,' according to head coach Mike McCarthy. McCarthy admitted that Montgomery needs more repetitions in pass protection, but his running ability, pass-catching and route-running are on point. 'That guy's a stud now. He's got it in his body. He's a very good young player,' McCarthy added.

Huddle Up: McCarthy is right; Montgomery can do anything and everything for the Packers on offense. He's one of the most versatile weapons in the league and has bulked up to be able to take the contact. View him as a RB2 with added value in PPR leagues.

  • Posted: 7/23/2017 5:52pm ET

Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery should double his 77 rushing attempts from a year ago, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com.

Huddle Up: Durability could be a concern for the former receiver, but he has been bulking up this offseason to prepare for a bigger role. He has RB2 potential, especially in PPR formats.
