Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper's 71 receptions in 2018 were the fourth most among tight ends, and he also ranked seventh in receiving yards (660) and tied for ninth in touchdowns (4) at the position.

Huddle Up: Hooper doesn't have the athleticism to make big plays like the elite fantasy tight ends, but he was still a dependable option at a thin position. He's a safe, low-end TE1 heading into 2019.

  • Posted: 12/30/2018 6:10pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper caught five of six targets for 67 yards in a 34-32 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 17.

Huddle Up: Hooper went over 600 receiving yards for the year and finished with 71 catches. He won't be confused as an elite fantasy tight end any time soon, but with a lack of dependable options at the position, Hooper should be viewed as a low-end TE1 heading into 2019.

  • Posted: 12/23/2018 6:08pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper finished with two grabs for 36 yards on his two targets in Week 16 against the Carolina Panthers.

Huddle Up: Hooper has been banged up down the stretch which has limited his fantasy appeal. He could be a TE1 fantasy option in 2019, but avoid him in Week 17 in Tampa since he isn't 100 percent.

  • Posted: 12/22/2018 8:03pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper faces the Carolina Panthers in Week 16, and the Panthers have allowed an NFL-high nine touchdowns to opposing tight ends this seasons.

Huddle Up: Hooper had five catches for 59 yards and a touchdown against the Panthers back in Week 2, and the likelihood of a return trip to the end zone makes him a TE1 option this weekend.

  • Posted: 12/21/2018 1:56pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (ankle, knee) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 21, but is not on the injury report for Week 16.

Huddle Up: Hooper was not targeted in the last game but was targeted at least five times in each of the previous five games. He can be a low-end No. 1 tight end in some deeper leagues but is not a must-start option.

  • Posted: 12/20/2018 1:29pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (knee, ankle) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

Huddle Up: Hooper should be able to play barring a setback over the next day or two. Facing Luke Kuechly and company isn't ideal, but Hooper is a fringe TE1 nonetheless.

  • Posted: 12/19/2018 2:51pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (knee, ankle) took part in practice as a limited participant on Wednesday, Dec. 19.

Huddle Up: Hooper was blanked in Week 15, so he isn't a great play heading into Week 16 against the defensive-minded Panthers even if he is able to suit up.

  • Posted: 12/16/2018 4:44pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper was held catchless on his only target in Week 15's win over the Arizona Cardinals.

Huddle Up: Matt Ryan threw a dart on the goal line to Hooper, whose hands were on the ball until it was knocked free. The Falcons didn't need to rely on him the rest of the way. He's a low-end TE1 in Week 16 against a Carolina defense that has been miserable vs. the position in 2018. Hooper posted 16.9 points in PPR vs. this group in Week 2, his third-best day on the year. Trust him once again with no clearer options.

  • Posted: 12/14/2018 12:17pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (ankle, knee) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 14, but is not on the injury report for Week 15.

Huddle Up: Hooper has been targeted at least five times in each of the last five games but has posted at least 50 yards in only one of those games. He can be a low-end No. 1 tight end in some deeper leagues but is not a must-start option.

  • Posted: 12/13/2018 1:26pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (knee, ankle) was not able to practice Thursday, Dec. 13.

Huddle Up: If Hooper can't go again tomorrow then he could be headed for a doubtful tag. If that were the case then Logan Paulsen would become fantasy relevant, but he's not worth starting in the fantasy playoffs.

  • Posted: 12/9/2018 3:13pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper posted four receptions for 37 yards on six targets in Week 14 against the Green Bay Packers before leaving the game with a knee injury.

Huddle Up: There was no word on Hooper's status after the game, so consider him day to day for now. He has been a borderline low-end TE1/must-start TE2 in fantasy leagues when healthy.

  • Posted: 12/2/2018 5:33pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper caught all five of his targets for 44 yards and a touchdown in a 26-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 13.

Huddle Up: Hooper won't put up huge numbers, but he's quietly become one of the steadier options at a thin position and a no-doubt TE1.

  • Posted: 11/22/2018 8:59pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper caught all five of his targets for 31 yards in a 31-17 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 12.

Huddle Up: Hooper doesn't post many big lines, but as decimated as the position has become this year, his steady role in the passing attack makes him a midrange TE1.

  • Posted: 11/18/2018 2:25pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper caught four passes for 27 yards against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 11.

Huddle Up: Hooper has been playing better lately and was still targeted eight times this week despite the disappointing numbers. He has a chance to be a low-end No. 1 tight end next week against the New Orleans Saints.

  • Posted: 11/11/2018 1:26pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper caught 10 passes for 56 yards and one touchdown against the Cleveland Browns in Week 10.

Huddle Up: Hooper has been targeted at least 10 times in three of the last five games and appears to be a reliable option in the passing game. He has a chance to be a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues next week.

  • Posted: 10/22/2018 8:52pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper posted three receptions for 48 yards on four targets in the Week 7 game against the New York Giants on Monday, Oct. 22.

Huddle Up: Hooper took a bit of a step back after two strong weeks. He still has three or more receptions in six of his seven outings this season to emerge as a borderline low-end TE1/TE2 in most fantasy leagues. You'll need to make alternate plans in Week 8, however, as the Falcons are on a bye.

  • Posted: 10/14/2018 8:06pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper caught nine of his 10 targets for 71 yards and a touchdown in a 34-29 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6.

Huddle Up: After managing just nine total catches over the first three games, Hooper has posted back-to-back, nine-catch performances. At the very least, he is a solid option to cover bye weeks, but Hooper could be trending to TE1 status if this type of usage continues.

  • Posted: 10/7/2018 1:35pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper caught nine passes for 77 yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 5.

Huddle Up: Hooper was targeted only 15 times in the first four games of the season but received 12 targets against the Steelers. He should continue to be part of the passing game moving forward but may not be a weekly starting option for owners.

  • Posted: 9/30/2018 3:13pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper hauled in just one reception for 19 yards on two targets in Week 4 against the Cincinnati Bengals on his two targets.

Huddle Up: Hooper fantasy owners can't be happy about his lack of targets, the emergence of rookie Calvin Ridley in the pass game and then the touchdown to Logan Paulsen, Hooper's backup. It was a frustrating day for Hooper's shrinking number of fantasy owners. He remains nothing more than a TE2 heading into Week 5 in Pittsburgh.

  • Posted: 9/16/2018 3:07pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper posted five receptions for 59 yards and a touchdown on five targets in the Week 2 win against the Carolina Panthers.

Huddle Up: Hooper was limited during the week by a knee ailment, but he didn't show any ill effects of the injury in this one. He has eight grabs for 83 yards on nine targets through two games to make him a decent low-end TE1 in most fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams. The Falcons host the Saints in Week 3.

  • Posted: 9/13/2018 1:53pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (knee) participated fully in practice Thursday, Sept. 13.

Huddle Up: Hooper's first game of the year could have been much better had he and Ryan converted on an end zone target or two. He is arguably their second most valuable red-zone threat behind Julio Jones but just doesn't see enough volume. Keep him in TE2 territory.

  • Posted: 9/12/2018 2:08pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper (knee) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Sept. 12.

Huddle Up: Hooper should be targeted as a TE2 with some low-end TE1 potential if he continues to see a steady stream of offensive snaps, particularly in the red zone.

  • Posted: 8/19/2018 8:29pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper was praised by head coach Dan Quinn for his improvements as a run blocker.

Huddle Up: Improving as a blocker should help Hooper play more snaps, which will only boost his fantasy appeal. He has been tabbed as a breakout candidate throughout the offseason, and low-end TE1 production isn't out of the question.

  • Posted: 8/17/2018 7:06pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper caught both of his targets for 33 yards and a touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs in the preseason Friday, Aug. 17.

Huddle Up: Both of Hooper's catches came while Matt Ryan was in the game. The hype has been building around him throughout the offseason, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him sneak into TE1 range this season.

  • Posted: 8/4/2018 11:31am ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper is entering his third year and QB Matt Ryan feels he is primed for a big season. 'Well, he's gotten a lot better,' Ryan said Saturday, Aug. 4. 'A lot more polished.' The quarterback added that he thinks Hooper has figured out the timing of the offense and is a little bit more patient with his routes and understanding where he needs to be.

Huddle Up: The duo have spent time together the past two offseasons, working privately. Hooper has the chance to take a big step forward in what should be a powerful Atlanta offense again in 2018. The coaching staff has reportedly been equally excited about his potential, especially as Hooper works to improve in the red zone. For now, he is a TE2 in most fantasy leagues, but don't be surprised if he takes a step forward and ends up a TE1 by season's end.

  • Posted: 7/17/2018 8:09am ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper said he is working to improve in the red zone. He stayed in Atlanta during the offseason to work with QB Matt Ryan. Head coach Dan Quinn said he's pumped about Hooper's potential in his third season.

Huddle Up: Hooper has caught 10 of 14 targets with four touchdowns in the red zone in his career, but he has to be more consistent to be more than a TE2 in fantasy.

  • Posted: 7/15/2018 7:11pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper's position coach, Wade Harman, has 'harped' on him about being more consistent this season, according to Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com.

Huddle Up: Hooper enjoyed a sizeable jump in production between his rookie and sophomore campaigns, finishing with 526 yards in 2017. Low-end TE1 production isn't out of the question, but Hooper should be drafted as a solid TE2.

  • Posted: 6/24/2018 8:06pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper 'should continue to ascend' in his second season in offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian's system, according to Gil Brandt of NFL.com.

Huddle Up: Hooper saw a significant jump in his second season, finishing with 49 catches for 526 yards after managing 19 catches for 271 yards as a rookie. Even a small boost in his numbers this year will make him a low-end TE1 candidate.

  • Posted: 5/10/2018 12:26pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper has been working with QB Matt Ryan this offseason in hopes of building better chemistry with Ryan.

Huddle Up: Hooper had a decent 2017 season but will look to improve on the three touchdowns he posted last season. He probably will not be a main target for Ryan this upcoming season, which makes Hooper a No. 2 tight end in most fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 3/30/2018 7:24pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper will make a 'big jump' in 2018, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Huddle Up: Hooper had 526 yards and three touchdowns last year, but he didn't show any signs that he is capable of much more. Consider him a TE2 for now.

  • Posted: 3/7/2018 7:51pm ET

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper is already starting to get in some work in the offseason, meeting QB Matt Ryan at the team facility as early as Friday, March 2, to go through an 'hour-plus throwing session.' The two have had 'multiple sessions' since then to work on timing and Hooper said he'll be in Atlanta 'all offseason' to work with Ryan.

Huddle Up: Hooper didn't necessarily have a bad sophomore showing in 2017, nabbing 49 balls for 526 yards and three touchdowns, but he didn't exactly make the second-year leap that many expected. He was also pretty lackluster down the stretch, recording no scores after mid-November, while also failing to top 40 yards in a game over that span as well. He'll have sleeper potential because of Atlanta's ability to move the ball, but for now, he's more of a TE2 entering next season.
