Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers believes they have the 'pieces to do something special' in 2018.

Huddle Up: Rivers might be one of the most underappreciated fantasy quarterbacks, and he's coming off a year when he finished second in passing yards and tied for fifth in touchdowns. He has solid weapons around him, and he's a reliable QB1 who is typically still around in the middle rounds.

  • Posted: 3/1/2018 10:02am ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers could play into his forties, according to head coach Anthony Lynn. Rivers is 36 years old and has not missed a game since 2006.

Huddle Up: Rivers is an iron man and has produced with whoever has been around him. Aside from Drew Brees, he has been the most consistent quarterback in the NFL over the last decade-plus. There's no reason to not draft Rivers as a QB1 again this year.

  • Posted: 12/24/2017 2:02pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers went 22-for-40 for 290 yards and one touchdown against the New York Jets in Week 16.

Huddle Up: Rivers bounced back from a three-interception game and has thrown for at least 290 yards in four of the last five games. He will be facing the Oakland Raiders next week and can be a low-end No. 1 fantasy quarterback.

  • Posted: 12/16/2017 9:19pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 20 of his 36 pass attempts for 227 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in a 30-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs Saturday, Dec. 16.

Huddle Up: Rivers and company were firing on all cylinders entering this matchup, but he picked a terrible time to lay an egg with the fantasy playoffs in full swing. On the plus side, Rivers should bounce back next week against the New York Jets.

  • Posted: 12/13/2017 7:55pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers passed retired QB Warren Moon for ninth on the NFL's all-time passing yards list. He has now thrown for 49,444 yards after his performance in the team's Week 14 win Sunday, Dec. 10, opposite the Washington Redskins.

Huddle Up: Even at age 36, Rivers is having another terrific fantasy season and he's on pace to hit the 4,000-yard plateau for the ninth time in his career. Additionally, he also currently owns his highest QB Rating (97.2) since 2013. Year in and year out, the former fourth-overall draft pick is simply one of the most underrated options to deploy at quarterback in all of fantasy.

  • Posted: 12/10/2017 8:46pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 18 of his 31 passes for 319 yards and two touchdowns in a 30-13 win over the Washington Redskins in Week 14.

Huddle Up: Rivers has topped 300 passing yards in three straight games, and he has thrown multiple touchdowns in four of his last five. Lock him in as a QB1 against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 15.

  • Posted: 12/3/2017 4:50pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 31 of his 43 pass attempts for 344 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the Week 13 game against the Cleveland Browns.

Huddle Up: Rivers is now seventh all-time in NFL history in passing touchdowns and he's not done yet. He is playing his best football of the season and he is a QB1 in most fantasy formats heading into Week 14 against the Washington Redskins.

  • Posted: 11/23/2017 5:26pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers went 27-for-33 for 434 yards and three touchdowns against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 12.

Huddle Up: Rivers has been playing well recently with seven touchdowns and one interception over the last three weeks. He will be facing the Cleveland Browns next week and should be a No. 1 fantasy quarterback in all leagues.

  • Posted: 11/19/2017 8:00pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 20 of his 32 pass attempts for 251 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 11 against the Buffalo Bills.

Huddle Up: Rivers was a question mark due to a concussion, but he cleared the protocol and was able to pick up the win. With a blowout in the second half, he received a much-needed rest with Kellen Clemens steering the ship in the fourth quarter. The Chargers travel to meet the Cowboys on Thanksgiving in Week 12.

  • Posted: 11/19/2017 12:19pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers (concussion) is officially active for the team's Week 11 game.

Huddle Up: Rivers was going through the concussion protocol during the week but has been cleared to play. He can be considered a low-end No. 1 quarterback in deeper leagues against the Buffalo Bills.

  • Posted: 11/19/2017 5:46am ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers (concussion) is expected to start Week 11's game against the Buffalo Bills.

Huddle Up: Rivers was a full participant in the team's two most recent practice sessions during the week after clearing concussion protocol. He has thrown nine touchdown passes and three interceptions over the last five games and should be viewed as a low-end QB1 in most fantasy formats.

  • Posted: 11/17/2017 5:44pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers (concussion) has been cleared to play in the team's Week 11 game by an independent neurologist.

Huddle Up: Rivers went through the concussion protocol this week but was a full participant in practice each of the last two days and will have his normal workload. He can be considered a low-end No. 1 quarterback in some deeper leagues.

  • Posted: 11/17/2017 2:06pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers (concussion) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 17, and is listed as questionable for Week 11.

Huddle Up: Rivers appears to have a good chance to play as long as he does not suffer a setback over the next few days. He would be facing a solid Buffalo Bills defense but could still be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in deeper leagues.

  • Posted: 11/16/2017 3:47pm ET

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers (concussion) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 16.

Huddle Up: Rivers still needs to pass his concussion tests but appears to be on track to play this week against the Buffalo Bills. He has thrown for nine touchdowns and three interceptions over the last five games. Owners in deeper leagues could consider Rivers a low-end No. 1 quarterback if he is active.

  • Posted: 11/16/2017 1:03pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers (concussion) has not cleared the concussion protocol and was limited in practice Thursday, Nov. 16. Head coach Anthony Lynn believes Rivers will play this weekend, but that decision is up to the team doctors.

Huddle Up: If Rivers plays he'll be greeted by a Buffalo Bills pass defense that has been better than average in 2017. The veteran quarterback is a fringe QB1 if active, but have a backup plan in place in case he's a no go.

  • Posted: 11/15/2017 7:30pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers became the eighth quarterback in NFL history with 4,000 career completions after his performance in Week 10 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. In the process, he also passed retired QB Warren Moon for eighth on the all-time list.

Huddle Up: It's another notch on the belt of what has been a terrific career for the 14-year veteran, but unfortunately for his owners, this hasn't been the typical Rivers season. As it stands, the 35-year-old owns an 87.8 QB Rating, which is his lowest since 2007. Furthermore, he's averaging just over 250 passing yards per contest, his fewest in five years. Of course, with his consecutive games streak in danger due to injury, owners have to wait before deciding to deploy him in Week 11.

  • Posted: 11/15/2017 1:09pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers (concussion) put in a limited practice Wednesday, Nov. 15.

Huddle Up: Whether or not Rivers plays this week could come down to a game-time decision. It is promising, though, that he practiced at all after suffering a concussion in Week 10. Either way, have a plan B ready in case Rivers can't go, especially since he would be in a tough matchup against the Minnesota Vikings anyway.

  • Posted: 11/15/2017 6:30am ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers (concussion) has given encouraging signs on his progress through the concussion protocol, according to sources.

Huddle Up: The Buffalo Bills present a midrange matchup, but Rivers hasn't been nearly as effective this season as he was in his prime. He's merely a desperation play this week.

  • Posted: 11/13/2017 3:40pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers (concussion) is going through the concussion protocol, according to head coach Anthony Lynn.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to monitor the situation to see if Rivers can participate in practice at some point this week. He would be facing a solid Buffalo Bills defense if he is able to play but could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in some deeper leagues.

  • Posted: 10/29/2017 6:12pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 17 of his 30 passes for 212 yards, a touchdown and an interception in a 21-13 loss to the New England Patriots in Week 8.

Huddle Up: Facing a New England secondary that had been shredded most of the year, Rivers posted a lackluster final line. He still delivers the occasional QB1 effort, but his value is matchup dependent.

  • Posted: 10/28/2017 9:08pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers faces the New England Patriots in Week 8, and the Patriots have allowed a league-high 15 touchdown passes and have allowed six of their seven opposing quarterbacks to throw for more than 300 yards.

Huddle Up: Rivers could be called on even more than usual with Melvin Gordon nursing a foot injury, and the friendly matchup locks him in as a QB1.

  • Posted: 10/22/2017 8:20pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 15 of his 26 pass attempts for 183 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 7 against the Denver Broncos.

Huddle Up: Rivers didn't throw for a high yardage total, but he also didn't turn it over and was sacked just three times, getting pretty decent protection along the way. He'll look to keep it rolling in Week 8 against a New England Patriots pass defense which has been very shaky up until Week 7.

  • Posted: 10/12/2017 8:09pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon is starting to find a rhythm running the football and is seeing the running lanes better, according to QB Philip Rivers.

Huddle Up: Gordon is coming off his best game of the season, and he remains one of the true every-down backs in the game today. His huge workload makes him a RB1 heading into a Week 6 matchup with the Oakland Raiders.

  • Posted: 10/8/2017 4:59pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed just 21 of his 44 pass attempts for 258 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in the Week 5 game against the New York Giants. He passed Hall of Famer Fran Tarkenton for 10th on the NFL's all-time career passing yardage list.

Huddle Up: Rivers had his worst completion percent (47.7) of the season, but he tied a season high with the three scoring strikes and the Bolts picked up their first win, too. He'll look to carry over the momentum into Week 6 in Oakland against a mediocre Raiders pass defense.

  • Posted: 10/1/2017 7:18pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 22 of his 38 passes for 347 yards and two touchdowns in a 26-24 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday, Oct. 1.

Huddle Up: Rivers bounced back from a three-interception outing in Week 3, and he has put up decent numbers despite the Chargers' 0-4 start. He can provide QB1 numbers against the right matchups, but a showdown with the solid defense of the New York Giants in Week 5 pushes him into QB2 territory.

  • Posted: 9/24/2017 6:28pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed 20 of his 40 pass attempts for 237 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions in the Week 3 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Huddle Up: Rivers had a nightmare outing, as he was picked three times, sacked twice and he had another potential interception overturned by instant replay. He posted a dismal 37.2 quarterback rating in the loss. Rivers now has four touchdowns and four interceptions through his first three games, all losses. He'll look to rebound in Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

  • Posted: 9/12/2017 3:37am ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers threw for three touchdown passes and 192 yards in a 24-21 loss to the Denver Broncos on Monday, Sept. 11.

Huddle Up: Rivers completed two-thirds of his passes, and only a missed field goal prevented the Chargers from tying the score and sending the game to overtime. Rivers showed his ability to lead comeback drives and find the open man. He ranks as a decent QB1 option, especially in weaker matchups.

  • Posted: 8/26/2017 9:26pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers completed all six of his pass attempts for 85 yards and a touchdown in a 21-19 preseason win over the Los Angeles Rams Saturday, Aug. 26.

Huddle Up: Injuries decimated the offense last year, but don't write off Rivers just yet. He could be a sneaky QB1 option still on the board later in drafts.

  • Posted: 8/20/2017 8:41pm ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers was was held out of the preseason game against the New Orleans Saints Sunday, Aug. 20. QB Kellen Clemens started and completed 10 of his 17 pass attempts for 99 yards and rushed three times for 26 yards.

Huddle Up: Rivers is coming off a down year by his standards, but if his receivers and offensive line can stay somewhat healthy, he could bounce back. He could be a great value as a low-end QB1.

  • Posted: 7/31/2017 5:45am ET

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers is commuting 71 miles each way to training camp from his northeast San Diego home every day. He has a driver so he can do work in the car. Head coach Anthony Lynn expressed some concerns, but Rivers said he wouldn't be rushing out of the facility every day.

Huddle Up: It's an unusual setup for a quarterback, but it should be a nonfactor. He had a down year last season with the most interceptions of his career (21), and his 60.4 percent completion rate was the second-lowest figure since he became a starter. He's on the fringe of the QB1 landscape.
