Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 20, and has been removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 7 game with the Chicago Bears.

Huddle Up: Stewart and Christian McCaffrey will divvy up the workload in the Carolina backfield on Sunday, with Stewart acting as the hammer with more carries and McCaffrey catching the ball more out of the backfield. Stewart is a decent RB3 or flex option.

  • Posted: 10/19/2017 11:54am ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 19.

Huddle Up: Stewart was held to minus four yards last week but will continue to receive most of the carries in the running game. He could be a possible flex option in deeper leagues, but owners in most leagues should have better options available and can bench Stewart.

  • Posted: 10/18/2017 12:08pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Huddle Up: Stewart couldn't run through a pile of cotton candy with the way he's been playing this year. His running mate, Christian McCaffrey, is the far superior play in both standard and PPR leagues nowadays. Stewart can keep wasting away on the bench as it's unlikely anyone besides his immediate family members want to trade for him at this point.

  • Posted: 10/12/2017 9:35pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart had eight carries for minus-four yards during the team's Week 6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Stewart was targeted twice in the passing game but did not record a reception.

Huddle Up: After gaining just 21 yards on 18 carries in Motown, Stewart went backwards Thursday night, giving him 17 yards on his last 26 carries. The veteran hasn't scored this season and hasn't reached 70 yards in a game. That's a bad combination, and it's ample reason to keep Stewart on your bench until further notice.

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle) practiced in full Wednesday, Oct. 11, and he was removed from the injury report ahead of the game Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Huddle Up: Stewart and rookie Christian McCaffrey will once again divvy up the touches in the Carolina backfield, with Stewart acting as the hammer and McCaffrey being used more in passing situations.

  • Posted: 10/10/2017 12:10pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle) was a limited practice participant Tuesday, Oct. 10, after missing practice Monday, Oct. 9.

Huddle Up: Stewart has done nothing yet to show that he deserves more than flex consideration, especially versus a stout Eagles' rush defense that has Fletcher Cox returning.

  • Posted: 10/9/2017 2:02pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle) did not participate in practice Monday, Oct. 9. The Panthers did not practice Monday, so this is an estimation.

Huddle Up: Stewart was held to only 21 yards in the last game but will continue to receive most of the carries in the running game. He will be facing a tough Philadelphia Eagles defense in Week 6 and could be benched if owners have better options.

  • Posted: 10/8/2017 3:29pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed 18 times for 21 yards in Week 5 against the Detroit Lions, and he added three grabs for 23 yards on his three targets.

Huddle Up: The Lions bottled up the rushing attack of the Panthers, so Carolina went to the air for most of its offensive production. He'll face another tough matchup in Week 6 on Thursday night against an Eagles rush defense which entered Week 4 ranked No. 1 in the NFC, and No. 2 in the NFL.

  • Posted: 10/6/2017 2:02pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 6, and is not on the injury report for Week 5.

Huddle Up: Stewart has been receiving a solid number of carries this season and has been a consistent performer for fantasy owners. He could be a flex option in deeper leagues, but owners may have better options to use in their lineups this week.

  • Posted: 10/1/2017 3:26pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart ran 14 times for 68 yards Sunday, Oct. 1, in a 33-30 win over the New England Patriots.

Huddle Up: With Christian McCaffrey ineffective against the Patriots, Stewart stepped up to the challenge. Despite the solid performance, keep Stewart as a low-end RB2 option.

  • Posted: 9/28/2017 12:23pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (non-injury) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 28.

Huddle Up: Stewart will be fine for Week 4 and should continue receive most of the carries during the game. He has posted at least 57 yards in two of the three games this season but has not found the end zone. He could be a flex option in some leagues but could also be benched if owners have better options.

  • Posted: 9/24/2017 1:36pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed 12 times for 57 yards in Week 3 against New Orleans and he added one grab for four yards.

Huddle Up: Fantasy owners expected much more against a porous Saints defense but Stewart didn't contribute much to point totals. He'll look to rebound in Week 4 at New England, but treat him as more of a low-end RB2 in most fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 9/21/2017 12:01pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (rest) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 21.

Huddle Up: Stewart will be good to go in a great matchup against the New Orleans Saints this week. While he does split playing time with Christian McCaffrey, Stewart deserves RB2 attention in both standard and PPR leagues.

  • Posted: 9/17/2017 3:48pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed 15 times for 40 yards in Week 2 against the Bills and he didn't have a reception on just one target.

Huddle Up: Stewart had 15 touches to 12 for rookie Christian McCaffrey, so J-Stew remains the lead dog in Charlotte - but not by much. He should find plenty of open spaces in Week 3 against the visiting Saints, but treat him as a RB3 or flex play in most formats.

  • Posted: 9/10/2017 7:51pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed 18 times for a game-high 65 yards while adding two catches for 17 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 at San Francisco.

Huddle Up: Stewart had a total of 20 touches while rookie Christian McCaffrey managed 18 touches in his return to the Bay Area, essentially an even split. As such, Stewart should be treated as more of a RB3 option in most standard fantasy leagues, and a low-end RB2 in PPR formats. The Panthers host the Bills in Week 2.

  • Posted: 9/7/2017 7:24am ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart is expected to receive the short-yardage work, in the opinion of the Charlotte Observer's Scott Fowler.

Huddle Up: J-Stew had nine touchdowns last season, but injuries have dogged him throughout his career, and he's aging. He's an RB3 in fantasy, but he's devalued in PPR formats a bit.

  • Posted: 7/6/2017 6:20pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart's role will remain unchanged according to head coach Ron Rivera and running backs coach Jim Skipper.

Huddle Up: It's hard to imagine Stewart remaining the workhorse after Carolina drafted Christian McCaffrey No. 8 overall, but at the very least, it sounds like he will remain in a prominent role. His size could earn him the carries around the goal line, making him a sneaky RB3 candidate.

  • Posted: 3/27/2017 8:23am ET

Updating previous reports, Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart is due up to $9.5 million over the next two seasons with an $8 million base value. His new deal freed up $2.075 million in cap space for 2017.

Huddle Up: The Panthers are expected to add an impact running back, and J-Stew has been frequently hobbled. Now 30, he's a low-end RB2 with minimal upside.

  • Posted: 3/25/2017 11:37am ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart said he believes it would be a good thing if the Panthers selected a running back in the 2017 NFL draft because it would keep him fresher late in games.

Huddle Up: Stewart should be the starting running back for the Panthers next season but could lose some carries if the team adds a rookie running back. He has rushed for at least 800 yards in each of the last three season and has 15 touchdowns in the last two years. He should be considered a No. 3 running back in most leagues and possibly a low-end No. 2 back in deeper leagues.

  • Posted: 3/24/2017 6:10am ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart signed a contract extension through the 2018 season Friday, March 24. Stewart had a cap figure of $8.25 million, and the extension was expected to reduce that in 2017.

Huddle Up: The 30-year-old has been oft-injured, but he has been productive in the spurts he has been out there. His nine touchdowns last season were the most since 2009. However, there are rumblings the team is looking to draft a running back early in the 2017 NFL Draft, maybe Leonard Fournette, and that would reduce J-Stew's potential impact. He's a low-end RB2 for now, but that could dampen as the draft approaches.

  • Posted: 2/7/2017 7:14am ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart appears to be in the team's plans for 2017. Head coach Ron Rivera mentioned Stewart by name in saying the team can't rely on its quarterback as its leading rusher. 'We've got to get guys like Jonathan Stewart rolling. We've got to put it in our backs' hands and get the ball to our playmakers.'

Huddle Up: There was some question as to whether the team would move on from the soon-to-be 30-year-old. However, they're expected to bring in competition at the position. Stewart is oft-injured, but he has been serviceable in committees. Age and attrition might bump him down into the RB3 area in fantasy.

  • Posted: 1/11/2017 6:42am ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart could be a possible cut in the offseason, in the opinion of beat writer David Newton. The move would save the team $6.25 million with a post-June 1 designation.

Huddle Up: Stewart turns 30 in March, and he has really been dogged with injuries the last five seasons. The best-case scenario would be for him to land in another timeshare role and be a low-end RB2 in drafts.

  • Posted: 1/1/2017 8:12pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed 20 times for 65 yards and a touchdown in the Week 17 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and he added one reception for seven yards on his two targets.

Huddle Up: Stewart finished with 825 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, his second-best rushing yardage total over the past seven seasons. His eight rushing scores were also his most since 2009. When healthy Stewart is a decent fantasy option, but he missed four games again this season. He can be a useful fantasy option, but plan to draft depth in 2017 if you want Stewart.

  • Posted: 1/1/2017 9:30am ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (foot) is officially active for the team's Week 17 game.

Huddle Up: Stewart should continue to receive most of the working in the running game and can be a low-end No. 2 running back or a flex option in most leagues.

  • Posted: 12/30/2016 3:57pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (foot) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 30, and is listed as questionable for Week 17.

Huddle Up: Stewart should be able to handle his normal workload in Week 17 despite the injury. He has rushed for at least 50 yards in each of last five games and should be a low-end No. 2 running back or a flex option in most leagues.

  • Posted: 12/29/2016 5:38pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (foot) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 29.

Huddle Up: Stewart's status for Week 17 is up in the air at this point, and if he sits out, Cameron Artis-Payne could be a source of cap relief in DFS formats.

  • Posted: 12/24/2016 3:47pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed 11 times for 50 yards in Week 16 against the Atlanta Falcons. He also had one catch for two yards on two targets in the pass game.

Huddle Up: Stewart had a nice day with 132 rushing yards on Monday night in Washington, but he has posted totals with 50 or fewer rushing yards in five of his past eight games.

  • Posted: 12/23/2016 2:51pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 23, and is not on the injury report for Week 16.

Huddle Up: Stewart has rushed for at least 50 yards in each of the last four games and has three touchdowns during that span. He should receive a decent amount of carries in Week 16 and should be a low-end No. 2 running back or a flex option.

  • Posted: 12/22/2016 11:13am ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (non-injury) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 22.

Huddle Up: Stewart has been receiving practices off over the last few weeks but has been able to play each week. He will receive most of the work in the running game and can be a No. 2 running back or a flex option for owners.

  • Posted: 12/21/2016 2:15pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Huddle Up: Stewart has been receiving days off from practice for the last several weeks and will be ready to play in Week 16. He is coming off a 132-yard performance in his last game and can be a No. 2 running back or a flex option in all fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 12/17/2016 10:22am ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (non-injury) fully participated in practice Saturday, Dec. 17, and is not on the injury report for Week 15.

Huddle Up: Stewart has been a consistent option for fantasy owners this season and should continue to receive most of the work at running back. Owners know what to expect from Stewart and could use him as a low-end No. 2 running back or a flex option.

  • Posted: 12/15/2016 8:03pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (non-injury) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 15.

Huddle Up: Stewart's heavy workload and a matchup against a Washington defense allowing the fifth-most yards per rush make him a quality RB2 in Week 15.

  • Posted: 12/11/2016 3:18pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed for 66 yards and one touchdown on 24 carries against the San Diego Chargers in Week 14.

Huddle Up: Stewart has been a consistent fantasy option for owners and should been considered a No. 2 running back or a flex option moving forward.

  • Posted: 12/9/2016 1:02pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (rest) was a full participant at practice for the second straight day Friday, Dec. 9.

Huddle Up: The veteran Stewart is as reliable as just about anyone for fantasy backfields and should continue to be plugged in lineups everywhere. He has a desirable matchup on tap, too, so expect Carolina's offense to bounce back from their 40-7 drubbing at the hands of the Seahawks this past Sunday night.

  • Posted: 12/8/2016 11:28am ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (non-injury) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 8.

Huddle Up: Stewart has received at least 15 carries in five of his last seven games and probably will continue to see plenty of carries in the offense. He has scored three touchdowns in his last three games and can be a flex option for fantasy owners.

  • Posted: 12/7/2016 2:28pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (rest) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 7.

Huddle Up: It was simply a day of rest for Stewart. He'll be fine for Week 14 in a plus matchup against the San Diego Chargers. San Diego has given up 16 total touchdowns to running backs this year, tied for second most in the NFL behind the San Francisco 49ers.

  • Posted: 12/2/2016 6:30pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (non-injury) returned to practice and was a full participant Friday, Dec. 2, and he isn't listed on the Week 13 injury report.

Huddle Up: Stewart should be rested for the Week 13 matchup against Seattle. The Seahawks have a solid run defense, but Stewart's heavy workload should still allow him to produce low-end RB2 numbers.

  • Posted: 12/1/2016 8:24pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (non-injury) did not practice Thursday, Dec. 1.

Huddle Up: Stewart's steady workload should keep him in the RB2 conversation, but his ceiling is limited against a Seattle defense allowing just 3.5 yards per carry.

  • Posted: 11/30/2016 6:58pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (rest) was held out of practice Wednesday, Nov. 30, but the absence was not injury related and simply rest.

Huddle Up: Stewart faces a rough stretch over the next few weeks, as he'll be facing top-notch rushing defenses for the remainder of the fantasy regular season and into the playoffs. Fantasy owners will want to treat him more as a low-end RB2 or even flex play.

  • Posted: 11/27/2016 10:37pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed 17 times for 96 yards with two touchdowns in the Week 12 game against the Oakland Raiders. He was targeted once in the pass game and he did not have a catch.

Huddle Up: Stewart just missed on 100 total yards from scrimmage, but he still had a productive day for his fantasy owners. He will have a difficult matchup on the road against the Seattle Seahawks on the road in Week 13, but he can still be trusted as a low-end RB2 in most fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 11/16/2016 11:14am ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (non-injury) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 16, and is not on the injury report for Week 11.

Huddle Up: Stewart has received some practice time off over the last few weeks but has been able to play. He has been held to 42 yards or less in each of the last two games and has not posted a 100-yard game this season. He can be a flex option for owners but is not a must-start player.

  • Posted: 11/15/2016 9:48am ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (undisclosed) did not participate in practice Tuesday, Nov. 15.

Huddle Up: Stewart didn't appear to suffer an injury in the Panthers' Week 10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, but this is something to keep an eye on with Carolina hosting the New Orleans Saints on Thursday. For now, owners should treat this as a rest day and pencil in Stewart as a low-end RB2. Cameron Artis-Payne would likely be called upon to start if J-Stew cannot go.

  • Posted: 11/13/2016 2:02pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart ran 13 times for 39 yards in Week 10 against the Kansas City Chiefs. He did not catch a pass.

Huddle Up: After scoring four times over two games, J-Stew has been invisible the past two weeks for trusting fantasy gamers. Said owners will be quite wary going forward, but a Week 11 matchup with the New Orleans Saints should help right the ship.

  • Posted: 11/11/2016 12:15pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart returned to a full practice Friday, Nov. 11, and will start in Week 10 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Huddle Up: Stewart had a nice little run with two two-score games after Cam Newton came back from his concussion, but he is hard to trust in fantasy when he doesn't find the end zone despite his sometimes-heavy workloads because the Panthers choose not to use him much in the passing game. Consider him a low-end RB2 at best this week.

  • Posted: 11/10/2016 12:22pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (non-injury) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 10.

Huddle Up: Stewart received another day off but should be fine for the team's Week 10 game. He has been a decent fantasy option this season because he is receiving most of the carries for the Panthers but is not posting great numbers. Owners should consider him a low-end No. 2 running back or a flex option in most leagues.

  • Posted: 11/9/2016 12:00pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 9.

Huddle Up: Stewart probably is receiving a day off and should be fine for the Week 10 game. He has posted decent numbers so far and can be a low-end No 2 running back or a flex option in a majority of leagues.

  • Posted: 11/7/2016 8:18pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart will face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 10. The Chiefs rank 27th in the NFL against the rush, allowing 124.5 yards per game with three touchdowns.

Huddle Up: Stewart remains a solid RB2 in all fantasy formats heading into the game. The last time Stewart was home at Bank of America Stadium he rolled to 95 rushing yards, two touchdowns and one catch for 25 yards against Arizona.

  • Posted: 11/6/2016 8:02pm ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart rushed 15 times for 42 yards in the Week 9 game against the Los Angeles Rams. He was not targeted in the pass game.

Huddle Up: The good news is that J-Stew stayed healthy, but the bad news is that he didn't do much against the Rams. He'll face the NFL's 27th-ranked rush defense when the Chiefs come calling in Week 10. Treat Stewart as a RB2 in most fantasy leagues for that matchup.

  • Posted: 11/4/2016 3:22pm ET

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 4, and is not on the injury report for Week 9.

Huddle Up: Stewart will receive a majority of the work at running back against the Los Angeles Rams and should be a decent No. 2 running back in all fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 11/4/2016 7:58am ET

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart returned to practice Friday, Nov. 4, after two rest days.

Huddle Up: J-Stew has a midrange matchup against the Los Angeles Rams this week. He has 180 rushing yards and four touchdowns in his last two games. He'll be a solid RB2 option in Week 9.
