Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (shin) practiced in full for a third consecutive day Friday, Sept. 14 and he was removed from the practice report ahead of the Week 2 game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Huddle Up: Stafford is ready to roll after taking a kick to the shin with a cleat in the Monday nighter against the Jets. He should jack it up frequently against the Niners, especially if LeGarrette Blount isn't available in the ground game. Staff remains a solid low-end QB1 in most fantasy formats, but hopefully he'll curb his interceptions this week after tossing four in the opener.

  • Posted: 9/13/2018 4:02pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (shin) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 13.

Huddle Up: Stafford is coming off a disastrous Week 1 performance but should be back on the field this week. He could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in deeper leagues but can also be benched if owners have better options.

  • Posted: 9/12/2018 2:45pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (shin) took part in a full practice session on Wednesday, Sept. 12.

Huddle Up: Stafford gutted it out on Monday night in a loss against the Jets, taking a kick with cleats to the knee and shin area, while also having his bell rung on a hard hit. It appears he'll be able to play in Week 2, and he is a solid low-end QB1 in leagues of 12 or more teams when healthy.

  • Posted: 9/11/2018 10:22am ET

New York Jets LB Darron Lee said Tuesday, Sept. 11, that the defense decoded the signals of Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford and knew what plays were coming, helping lead to five total interceptions (four off Stafford) in a 48-17 road win Monday, Sept. 10. 'We were calling out their plays as he was getting up to the line,' Lee said. 'We knew his signals. We knew everything. That's just preparation as a defense. ... It seemed like we were in his head as a defense.'

Huddle Up: Well, it seems the Jets put their offseason film study to good use, and there's at least a plausible excuse for Stafford's first four-interception game since 2013. Keep Stafford in your lineup if he's your best QB option, and count on the Lions having a whole new set of signals Week 2 against the San Francisco 49ers.

  • Posted: 9/10/2018 8:17pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford completed 27-of-46 passes for 286 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions in the Week 1 game against the New York Jets on Monday, Sept. 10.

Huddle Up: Stafford was battered and bruised, although he wasn't officially sacked. He did get cleated in the left knee once, and crumpled in pain after another hard hit. Matt Cassel finished up the blowout loss. Stafford and the Lions will look to bounce back in Week 2 on the road against the San Francisco 49ers.

  • Posted: 9/10/2018 6:32pm ET

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (undisclosed) checked back into the game in the middle of the third quarter of the Week 1 game against the New York Jets on Monday, Sept. 10.

Huddle Up: Stafford ended up missing just one play, as Matt Cassel threw an incompletion. However, on the second play since returning, Stafford tossed his fourth interception of the game. Ouch.

  • Posted: 9/10/2018 6:01pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (undisclosed) left the Week 1 game against the New York Jets due to an undisclosed injury after a hard hit.

Huddle Up: Stafford suffered a knee injury at the end of the first half and he was gimpy, now he might have a head injury or some sort of other ailment. Matt Cassel replaced him. More info when we know it.

  • Posted: 12/24/2017 4:13pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford completed 19 of his 35 pass attempts for 203 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Week 16 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Huddle Up: Stafford's team was eliminated from the playoffs with the disappointing performance, and Stafford likely eliminated a lot of his fantasy owners with this egg laying as well.

  • Posted: 12/16/2017 5:27pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford threw 25-for-33 for 237 yards and two touchdowns in his team's 20-10 Week 15 win over the Chicago Bears.

Huddle Up: The Lions have to hope Stafford stays healthy, as they are riding his arm to a potential playoff berth. He only missed on eight attempts Saturday, so precision doesn't appear to be too much of an issue. Stafford remains a strong QB1 heading into next week.

  • Posted: 12/14/2017 12:09pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (hand) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 14, and is not on the injury report for Week 15.

Huddle Up: Stafford has thrown for at least 250 yards in seven of the last eight games but has four touchdowns and four interceptions over the last three games. He will be facing a solid Chicago Bears pass defense but could still be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in deeper leagues.

  • Posted: 12/13/2017 2:44pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (hand) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Dec. 13.

Huddle Up: Stafford toughed it out last week after banging up his throwing hand the week prior, so he'll be good to go after another week of recovery and practice. The Chicago Bears have defended the pass well this year, but Stafford remains a viable QB1.

  • Posted: 12/12/2017 3:00pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (hand) was a full practice participant Tuesday, Dec. 12.

Huddle Up: Stafford shook off a banged up hand last week and came through for fantasy owners. He should be fine with another week of recovery behind him but faces a tough test in the Chicago Bears, who have been one of the best pass defenses in the league this year. Still, Stafford is in the QB1 conversation for Week 15.

  • Posted: 12/10/2017 7:07pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford completed 36 of his 44 pass attempts for 381 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in the Week 14 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Huddle Up: Stafford checked out early in Week 13 due to a hand injury, but he didn't seem to show any ill effects of the injury in this one. If you normally rely upon him in fantasy leagues it appears safe to keep using him going forward.

  • Posted: 12/10/2017 8:53am ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (hand) is officially active for the team's Week 14 game.

Huddle Up: Stafford suffered the injury last week but likely will receive his normal workload against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He will be a risky option because the injury is to his throwing hand but can be a low-end No. 1 fantasy quarterback before of the matchup.

  • Posted: 12/10/2017 6:02am ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (hand) is expected to start Week 14's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to a source.

Huddle Up: Stafford appears to be on pace to start his 109th consecutive game and should be viewed as a low-end QB1 option in all fantasy formats due to the favorable matchup. He was a limited participant in two out of three practice sessions during the week and had been listed as questionable on the injury report but owners should have no reservations about starting him.

  • Posted: 12/8/2017 2:42pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (hand) was listed as a limited participant in practice Friday, Dec. 8, and he is considered questionable for Week 14 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Huddle Up: Stafford has healed very quickly from the hand injury he suffered late in the Week 13 game in Baltimore. If he starts he is a very nice fantasy option against the league's 31st-ranked pass defense. Tampa has allowed 267.3 yards per game, most in the NFC, and 19 touchdowns with 10 or more pass plays of 40 yards allowed.

  • Posted: 12/7/2017 1:18pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (hand) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Dec. 7.

Huddle Up: Stafford really doesn't want to miss this matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The scallywags are among the worst fantasy defenses in the league this year and the Lions are usually forced to pass early and often in order to stay in games. If Stafford is active then he should be started.

  • Posted: 12/6/2017 7:50am ET

Updating previous reports, Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (hand) is 'not out of the woods yet,' with his bruised right hand, according to head coach Jim Caldwell. Caldwell added the injury isn't insignificant, but the nerves and feeling in Stafford's hand are progressing.

Huddle Up: Stafford has a solid matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, with his history of struggles through hand injuries, it's not out of the realm to consider a one-week play if you're in the first round of the playoffs.

  • Posted: 12/4/2017 11:10am ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (hand) is 'really sore and badly bruised' after suffering a throwing hand injury in Week 13. Stafford's hand is not broken, as reported previously, and head coach Jim Caldwell does not yet know if the injury will affect Stafford's throwing.

Huddle Up: The Lions desperately need Stafford if they want to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. That may go for fantasy owners too. Obviously his status will need to be tracked throughout the week, but look for him to be limited in practice, if he does practice. Stafford can be started if he plays in a great matchup versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

  • Posted: 12/3/2017 2:04pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (hand) underwent X-rays on his injured right hand, but they did not show any fracture, according to head coach Jim Caldwell.

Huddle Up: Stafford should be considered questionable for Week 14, so owners will need to monitor his practice participation during the week. He would have a favorable matchup if he is able to play, but owners may want to consider healthier options for their lineups.

  • Posted: 12/3/2017 12:53pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (hand) suffered a right hand injury in Week 13 and is considered questionable to return. He is undergoing X-rays on the hand.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to look for an update to see if Stafford suffered broken hand during the game. Jake Rudock would take over as the starter if Stafford misses and would not have much fantasy value. The injury would also hurt the value of the team's pass catchers.

  • Posted: 12/2/2017 7:20pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford goes on the road to face the Baltimore Ravens in Week 13, and the Ravens have allowed a league-low three touchdown passes in six home games this season.

Huddle Up: Stafford could still be used as a low-end QB1, but if you have a quality backup with a friendly matchup, don't be afraid to sit Stafford.

  • Posted: 12/1/2017 5:16pm ET

Detroit Lions RB Matthew Stafford (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 1, and is not on the injury report for Week 13.

Huddle Up: Stafford appears to be ready for a full workload despite the injury but will be facing a tough Baltimore Ravens defense. He could be considered a low-end No. 1 quarterback in deeper leagues or can be benched if owners have better options.

  • Posted: 11/30/2017 1:16pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 30.

Huddle Up: Stafford appears to be on track to play this week but will be facing a tough Baltimore Ravens defense. Owners can consider benching Stafford if they have better options available.

  • Posted: 11/29/2017 1:22pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (ankle) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Nov. 29.

Huddle Up: Stafford will be good to go this weekend, but he faces one of the tougher pass defenses in the NFL in the Baltimore Ravens -- a squad that has yielded just 10 passing touchdowns all year. Don't completely shy away from him, but don't expect QB1 numbers either.

  • Posted: 11/27/2017 5:07pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (ankle) said the ankle he injured in Week 12 is feeling better. He said he underwent X-rays on the ankle after the game.

Huddle Up: Owners can monitor Stafford's practice participation during the week, but he should be able to play unless he suffers a setback. He will be facing a tough Baltimore Ravens defense in Week 13 but could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in deeper leagues.

  • Posted: 11/23/2017 7:30pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (ankle) said his ankle wasn't 100 percent following a 30-23 loss to the Minnesota Vikings Thursday, Nov. 23, but he expects to 'be all right' going forward.

Huddle Up: Make sure to keep an eye on Stafford's status heading into a Week 13 meeting with the Baltimore Ravens. You may want to consider another option if it sounds like he will be less than 100 percent for the matchup.

  • Posted: 11/23/2017 1:35pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford gutted out a 250-yard, two-touchdown performance in a loss to the Detroit Lions Thursday, Nov. 23. Unfortunately, he also committed two turnovers (one fumble and one interception).

Huddle Up: Stafford was clicking with Marvin Jones in this contest, but that's about it. He was frequently under pressure and suffered an ankle injury late in the game, but came back in. Despite the disappointing outing, he remains a QB1 option for the rest of 2017.

  • Posted: 11/23/2017 12:45pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (ankle) remained in the game Thursday, Nov. 23, after suffering an ankle injury on a touchdown pass to WR Marvin Jones.

Huddle Up: Stafford will toughen it out after what appeared to be a nasty injury on a low hit. He has played well so far and should be viewed as a borderline QB1 for the remainder of the season.

  • Posted: 11/21/2017 6:49am ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford is the NFL's highest-rated deep passer at 128.6, according to Pro Football Focus. Stafford was 7-for-22 on throws of more than 20 yards during the first six games. Over the last four games, he's 11-for-21 with a touchdown in three of the four tilts. WR Marvin Jones has caught nine of 18 such passes thrown his way, and Stafford has a 133.5 passer rating when throwing deep to Jones.

Huddle Up: Since the bye week, Stafford has averaged 333 yards passing in four games. He has thrown seven touchdowns and one interception in that stretch. He has ascended to the upper level of QBs just below the cream of the crop.

  • Posted: 11/19/2017 2:33pm ET

Detroit Lions WR Matthew Stafford completed 21 of his 31 pass attempts for 299 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 11 game against the Chicago Bears.

Huddle Up: Greedy fantasy owners will complain about just missing a potential 300-yard bonus, but this was a very good game. And hey, with Thanksgiving on Thursday, Stafford will be right back in action, albeit a tough matchup against the Vikings. He threw for 209 yards and no touchdowns in the first meeting with Minnesota in Week 4, one of only two games without a touchdown this season for Stafford.

  • Posted: 11/6/2017 9:00pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford completed 26 of 33 passes for 361 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the team's Week 9 victory Monday, Nov. 6, against the Green Bay Packers. It was also the highest QB Rating (132.4) he's produced in a game this season.

Huddle Up: Stafford has been on fire as of late, as he's now totaled a whopping 1,096 yards over his last three games -- the most of any quarterback in the league over that span. Clearly, he's in a groove right now and it would be awfully tough for any fantasy owner to leave him on the bench in the weeks ahead. Also of note, Stafford has thrown an interception in only two of eight games this year.

  • Posted: 10/29/2017 8:51pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford completed 27 of 45 passes for 423 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 8 loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Huddle Up: It was actually the third-highest yardage total by an NFL offense without scoring a touchdown. That's not the type of statistic fantasy owners want to see. The Lions will look to re-discover the end zone in Week 9 on Monday Night Football in Green Bay.

  • Posted: 10/15/2017 4:52pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford completed 25 of his 52 pass attempts for 312 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions in the Week 6 game against the New Orleans Saints and he lost a pair of fumbles.

Huddle Up: Stafford was officially listed as questionable for the game due to an ankle injury, but he showed no ill effects of the injury. He remains a solid fantasy starter, although you'll need to make alternate plans in Week 7 with the team on a bye.

  • Posted: 10/13/2017 9:18pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (ankle) faces the New Orleans Saints in Week 6, and in his last two meetings with the Saints, he has completed 52 of his 67 passes for 595 yards and five touchdowns.

Huddle Up: Stafford is expected to play through an ankle injury this weekend, and his recent history of success against New Orleans could continue. Only the New England Patriots have allowed more yards per pass attempt than the Saints this season.

  • Posted: 10/13/2017 4:47pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (ankle) is expected to play in the team's Week 6 game even though he is listed as questionable.

Huddle Up: Stafford was a full participant in practice all week and should receive his normal workload against the New Orleans Saints. He has not posted big numbers so far this season but could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback this week because of the matchup.

  • Posted: 10/13/2017 2:16pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 13, and is listed as questionable for Week 6.

Huddle Up: Stafford should be able to play this week as long as he does not suffer a setback in the next few days. He has not thrown for at least 300 yards yet this season but should have a favorable matchup this week. He can be considered a low-end No. 1 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 10/12/2017 2:43pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

Huddle Up: Stafford appears to be on track to play this week against the New Orleans Saints this week as long as he does not suffer a setback. He has thrown for at least 250 yards in only two games this season but can still be considered a low-end No. 1 fantasy quarterback this week.

  • Posted: 10/11/2017 1:29pm ET

Updating a previous report, Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (ankle) put in a full practice Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Huddle Up: Stafford apparently has somewhat of a limp, but the fact that he had a full practice is a sigh of relief. He's a terrific start this week versus one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL in the New Orleans Saints in what could be a barn burner.

  • Posted: 10/9/2017 12:52pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (ankle, quadriceps) is dealing with ankle and quadriceps injuries, but the Lions are optimistic that he will play in Week 6, according to sources.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to monitor Stafford's practice participation this week to see if he is in any danger of missing the game. He has not thrown for 300 yards in any game this season but does have nine touchdowns and only one interception in five games. He will be a risky option this week but can be considered a low-end No. 1 quarterback because of the matchup.

  • Posted: 10/9/2017 5:47am ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (ankle, quadriceps) finished the Week 5 game with heavy tape on his ankle and quadriceps.

Huddle Up: Keep an eye out for updates, but he's expected to be fine for the New Orleans Saints in Week 6. Stafford will be a high-end QB1 option if he's healthy.

  • Posted: 10/8/2017 3:22pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford completed 23 of his 35 pass attempts for 229 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers. He also lost one fumble and he was sacked six times.

Huddle Up: Stafford hooked up with Darren Fells for a couple of scoring strikes in the final frame, as it looked like was going to pull off another one of his vaunted fourth-quarter comebacks. However, he came up just short. He faces an ultra-favorable matchup in Week 6 against a leaky New Orleans pass defense.

  • Posted: 10/1/2017 3:00pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford completed 19 of 31 pass attempts for 209 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in the Week 4 game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Huddle Up: Stafford wasn't a friend to fantasy owners on this day, as he failed to find the end zone and was pressured all day long. In fact, Stafford was sacked six times, and the Lions offense was more successful on the ground. He'll look for better results in Week 5 against a Carolina Panthers pass defense which was very giving in Week 4.

  • Posted: 9/24/2017 3:42pm ET

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford threw 25-for-45 for 265 yards and one touchdown in a 30-26 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Sept. 24.

Huddle Up: It could have been two touchdowns, but by now you probably know about the touchdown that wasn't. Stafford has a reputation for strong comeback and volume-passing efforts make the Lions signal-caller a decent QB1 option every game.
