Huddle Up: Tannehill can be avoided for the foreseeable future. It remains to be seen if he will even be playing for the Dolphins next year. For now, Jay Cutler and Matt Moore will take the quarterback reins in Miami, but both are low-end fantasy backups.

Huddle Up: Tannehill will be sidelined for the entire 2017 season and his future with the Dolphins is uncertain. Jay Cutler will be the starting quarterback for Miami in 2017 and could be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback in leagues.

Huddle Up: Jay Cutler will be the starter for the Dolphins this season and has had success under head coach Adam Gase. He will have a very good receiving corps to work with and could be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback. Tannehill will not be back until 2018 and has a uncertain future with the Dolphins.

Huddle Up: Tannehill will significant amount of time if he does not undergo surgery and will miss the entire 2017 season if he does undergo surgery. He should be avoided in all fantasy leagues. Jay Cutler will be the starting quarterback for the Dolphins and will have a solid group of pass catchers to work with. Cutler can be a No. 2 quarterback for fantasy owners.

Huddle Up: The news just keeps getting worse for Tannehill and the Dolphins as it now appears the absolute best-case scenario is six weeks of rest followed by another attempt to make it through the season on a bum knee that one source labeled a 'ticking time bomb.' The potential fallout would make Vault Boy's head spin: under center, would they go with Matt Moore or reach out to Jay Cutler or Colin Kaepernick? On the outside, how would those respective replacements affect Jarvis Landry, DeVante Parker and Kenny Stills? It's a bad situation, and until we have resolution it'd be prudent to avoid Tannehill and at least downgrade Parker and Stills.

Huddle Up: If Tannehill ends up missing the season, it could take a bit of the shine off Miami's receivers. Keep an eye on the situation.
Posted: 8/3/2017 2:53pm ET
Huddle Up: Panic mode seems to have been avoided, but Tannehill's status will need to be monitored in the coming days and weeks. Again, though, he is merely a QB2 even when he's at full health.
Posted: 8/3/2017 1:08pm ET
Huddle Up: Keep tabs on updates regarding Tannehill's injury, but it's promising so far. Tannehill injured the same leg/knee he injured last year, so the Dolphins will assuredly take it easy with him going forward. When fully healthy, Tannehill is a serviceable backup fantasy quarterback.
Posted: 8/3/2017 8:06am ET
Huddle Up: It's important to note that his already injured left knee is the area of concern. Tannehill severely sprained the ACL and MCL last season but didn't require surgery. It's too early to speculate, but the amount of upside he had as a QB2 in fantasy appears gone for now.
Posted: 8/3/2017 6:23am ET
Huddle Up: It could be minor, and it's not clear he is bothered by the knee. However, that's the knee suffered an ACL sprain in last season. Tannehill is a quality fantasy backup if everything checks out.
Posted: 7/29/2017 7:22pm ET
Huddle Up: Parker has plenty of upside, but injuries and inconsistency have hindered his value. He still has time to realize his potential, and he is worth taking a chance on as a WR3 this season.
Posted: 7/27/2017 10:21am ET
Huddle Up: The news is promising for Tannehill, but we won't really know how he plays with the brace until the preseason, if he plays in the preseason at all. Nonetheless, Tannehill has failed to prove himself as a QB1, even when healthy, and may forever be cemented in the realm of the QB2.
Posted: 7/24/2017 7:03am ET
Huddle Up: Tannehill has never had that breakout season, and expectations should be tempered. Running back Jay Ajayi is expected to be used heavily, and he could pad Tannehill's numbers in the passing game. A high-end QB2 still seems like Tannehill's ceiling this year with matchup play capabilities.
Posted: 7/2/2017 7:28pm ET
Huddle Up: Tannehill does have a bunch of weapons at his disposal, but it remains to be seen if it will lead to a breakout campaign. Grab him as an upside QB2. You could end up with a potential starter or valuable trade chip if he puts its all together.
Posted: 6/13/2017 6:02pm ET
Huddle Up: Tannehill completed 67.1 percent of his passes in 2016, which was tied for sixth in the NFL. He struggled a bit with 12 interceptions but did finish with 19 touchdowns and 2,995 passing yards before suffering a season-ending injury. He will have plenty of weapons to work with in the offense and would be a fine No. 2 fantasy quarterback.
Posted: 5/25/2017 12:24pm ET
Huddle Up: It's been a struggle for Tannehill the last couple years. While he does have the ability to achieve QB1 numbers, it's best to draft him as a QB2.
Posted: 3/4/2017 8:26pm ET
Huddle Up: Tannehill has rushed for just six touchdowns in five years, so staying in the pocket more doesn't really change his fantasy value. He remains a QB2 heading into 2017.
Posted: 2/23/2017 10:25am ET
Huddle Up: Tannehill has plenty of time to get used to his knee and playing with the brace. Don't be surprised if he's held back somewhat in the offseason program, but he'll be good to go for the regular season as of now. Tannehill has yet to reach that 'next level' in his career and remains a backup fantasy quarterback.
Posted: 2/4/2017 3:52pm ET
Huddle Up: Although it is only February, Tannehill's ACL better be stable, as a surgery to repair a torn ACL usually take at least nine months to rehab, which would mean his best-case scenario would be a November return if he needs the surgery. At the moment, however, there's no reason to believe that is the case. Tannehill should return to being a serviceable fantasy QB2 if he returns without incident in 2017.
Posted: 1/30/2017 5:47am ET
Huddle Up: Tannehill has been a mediocre quarterback in his five-year career, and he'll be 29 next season. If there were a season for everything to come together, it could be his second season under Adam Gase. He'll be a high-end QB2 in drafts.
Posted: 1/25/2017 2:08pm ET
Huddle Up: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation because Tannehill could miss significant time if he needs major surgery on his knee. The Dolphins probably will make a decision on Tannehill in the near future. He played better as 2016 progressed; think a cheap backup with starting value based on the matchups.
Posted: 1/23/2017 5:25pm ET
Huddle Up: Tannehill showed improvement during the season and was playing well when he suffered his season-ending injury. Tannehill could be asked to throw more in 2017 and should be considered a low-end No. 1 quarterback or a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.
Posted: 1/11/2017 11:29am ET
Huddle Up: Tannehill probably would have to miss some offseason workouts if he needs surgery and could be questionable for the start of training camp depending on the surgery. Owners should keep an eye on the situation over the next few weeks. Tannehill played well this season and could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback or a No. 2 quarterback in most leagues if he is healthy.
Posted: 1/11/2017 10:39am ET
Huddle Up: Tannehill has the weaponry and offensive system in place to a decent fantasy QB2 with a touch of upside in 2017. He has flashed at times in his career, but he is relatively young in terms of his quarterbacking maturation as a former wide receiver. Following a dismal 2016 effort, he will be greatly discounted in drafts.
Posted: 1/6/2017 10:30am ET
Huddle Up: Tannehill has already been ruled out for Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but this upgrade suggests he has a chance to play next week against the New England Patriots should the Dolphins advance. Matt Moore will get the nod and figures to be an uninspiring start in fantasy.
Posted: 1/5/2017 7:19am ET
Huddle Up: No surprise here. The Pittsburgh Steelers present a midrange matchup for Matt Moore. Moore averaged 224.7 yards passing, 2.7 touchdowns and one interception in the final three games. He's actually a midrange QB1 for the first round of the playoffs with so many muddy quarterback situations.
Posted: 1/4/2017 9:27am ET
Huddle Up: There is a shred of hope for Tannehill to start the first game of the playoffs, but he'll need to practice this week in order to do so. The Pittsburgh Steelers are a midrange matchup whether Tannehill or Matt Moore start. Both are pretty questionable plays, but if the price is right in DFS, there could be potential to load up elsewhere.
Posted: 1/2/2017 4:24pm ET
Huddle Up: Moore has held his own while replacing Tannehill, but this is the playoffs. If Tannehill can't go then Moore will be playing on the road in a hostile environment. He can't be trusted for those playing in playoff leagues.
Posted: 12/26/2016 6:12am ET
Huddle Up: Matt Moore has been better than probably anyone could have hoped for in Tannehill's absence. It's probably unlikely Tannehill will play against the New England Patriots in Week 17 three weeks after suffering a Grade 2 MCL sprain and a partially torn ACL. The Pats are a midrange matchup, but will they rest guys a full game up on the Derek Carr-less Oakland Raiders now? There could be upside for Moore if he remains under center.
Posted: 12/22/2016 5:30pm ET
Huddle Up: Tannehill hasn't officially been shut down, but the injury is expected to keep him out for a few weeks.
Posted: 12/22/2016 6:59am ET
Huddle Up: For all intents and purposes, he's probably done unless the Dolphins make a deep playoff run. Matt Moore was stellar with four touchdowns against the New York Jets last week. The Buffalo Bills present a midrange matchup, but it's hard to expect Moore to repeat that performance. He's a DFS streaming option at the right price.
Posted: 12/21/2016 2:00pm ET
Huddle Up: Matt Moore filled in splendidly for Tannehill last week, but the Buffalo Bills pose a harder matchup. Buffalo has surrendered only 15 touchdowns to quarterbacks while picking off 11 passes this year. Moore will come back down to earth this week and should not be started.
Posted: 12/17/2016 5:16pm ET
Huddle Up: Matt Moore will likely end up under center for Miami the rest of the way, but he doesn't have much fantasy appeal.
Posted: 12/12/2016 11:01am ET
Huddle Up: There is 'internal optimism' Tannehill might be able to return for the playoffs, but he obviously needs this second opinion to reveal the same thing as the first exam did - sprains and not tears of the ACL and MCL. The odds are against Tannehill playing against this season but stay tuned. Matt Moore will fill in during his absence and can be considered a low-end QB2 in Week 15 against the sorry New York Jets pass defense.
Posted: 12/12/2016 10:15am ET
Huddle Up: It's obviously still a pretty severe sprain if the Dolphins have any doubts about his ability to return at any point this season, but it is still the best possible news for Tannehill as he avoids the long recovery - usually nine to 12 months - associated with ACL tears. He should be ready well in advance of offseason work and has done enough this year to remain the starter in Miami.
Posted: 12/11/2016 3:55pm ET
Huddle Up: Tannehill is likely done for the season which leaves Matt Moore as the expected starting quarterback down the stretch.
