Huddle Up: Gurley's Super Bowl usage was quizzical, especially since he and the Rams claim that he was not hurt. If C.J. Anderson maintains his complementary role then it will be difficult to select Gurley with the first overall pick in 2019 drafts.
-
Posted: 2/3/2019 8:19pm ET
Huddle Up: At this point, Gurley owners would probably welcome some sort of injury to justify his limited role throughout the playoffs. Gurley has been a workhorse and a fantasy force the last two years, but if the Rams bring back C.J. Anderson, it will be interesting to see how touches are split in 2019.
-
Posted: 2/3/2019 7:10pm ET
Huddle Up: Gurley again split time with C.J. Anderson and was on the sidelines for several stretches. After another impressive regular season, fantasy owners have to be a little concerned about Gurley's limited role down the stretch, especially if Anderson re-signs.
-
Posted: 2/1/2019 2:45pm ET
Huddle Up: Gurley has dealt with some knee problems over the last month or so but was not on the injury report and will receive his normal workload. He is one of the top running backs in the NFL and will be a top five pick in all fantasy drafts in 2019.
-
Posted: 1/29/2019 8:56am ET
Huddle Up: Gurley is by far the most talented at the position in the game, but if you're playing DFS, the lingering questions with his knee and his likely salary may be too much.
-
Posted: 1/26/2019 6:31am ET
Huddle Up: Gurley does not appear on the injury report and has been a full practice participant throughout the week. It should also help that he will have an extra week to rebound before Super Bowl LIII. However, this is not a favorable matchup versus the New England defense, so fantasy expectations should be somewhat tempered.
-
Posted: 1/25/2019 9:07am ET
Huddle Up: Gurley bounced back from missing the final two games of the regular season with a knee injury by rushing for 115 yards and a TD on 16 carries in the divisional-round win over the Cowboys, but then regressed by logging only five touches and playing 46 percent of the offensive snaps in the NFC title game. The Rams insist that Gurley isn't being hampered by his late-season knee injury, but the numbers and eye test certainly are suggesting otherwise. Perhaps the two-week break leading up to the Super Bowl will help, but for now, temper your fantasy expectations for Gurley.
-
Posted: 1/22/2019 7:23am ET
Huddle Up: The Patriots didn't allow a rushing touchdown the last three weeks of the regular season and have really limited opposing rushers in the playoffs. They held Melvin Gordon to 9-15-1 on the ground and Damien Williams to 10-30-1 on the ground. Gurley, who was invisible in the NFC Championship game is clearly a supreme option to those two, and he's the best back playing in the Super Bowl. However, if you're playing in daily formats, you might be better off paying for James White and another player than paying for Gurley's large salary.
-
Posted: 1/20/2019 8:18pm ET
Huddle Up: Gurley rushed just four times, and while he did drop a couple of passes, it is almost impossible to believe that the reason he spent most of the game on the sidelines wasn't related to the knee injury he suffered late in the year. If he is banged up, he will have two weeks to prepare before the Super Bowl.
-
Posted: 1/20/2019 9:42am ET
Huddle Up: Throw in Gurley's late-season knee issue and the subsequent emergence of fellow RB C.J. Anderson, who out-touched Gurley 23-18 in last weekend's divisional-playoff win over the Cowboys, and there is enough reason to temper expectations for Gurley on Sunday in the Big Easy.
-
Posted: 1/16/2019 1:56pm ET
Huddle Up: Gurley played just fine in his return to the gridiron last week, running for 115 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries. He and C.J. Anderson have suddenly formed a dynamic duo in the Rams' backfield, but Gurley remains the top threat.
-
Posted: 1/12/2019 8:40pm ET
Huddle Up: After resting his sore knee over the final couple of weeks of the regular season, Gurley delivered a strong outing in his return to the field. The only negative is that his brief absence has allowed fellow back C.J. Anderson to carve out a role, which could continue to cap Gurley's upside a bit during these playoffs.
-
Posted: 1/10/2019 1:39pm ET
Huddle Up: Gurley is good to go for the divisional round. Health may not be an issue, but rust could be as he has not taken the field in a month. C.J. Anderson may spot him at times, but Gurley will handle as much as he can. He and Ezekiel Elliott are the top two running backs on the slate.
-
Posted: 1/9/2019 5:16pm ET
Huddle Up: Gurley will be good to go for the Rams' Divisional Round clash with the Cowboys, especially since he's coming off three weeks of rest. While he's routinely one of the best RB1 weapons going, Gurley probably won't be the best value from this week's slate. He's facing a tough Dallas rush defense that was able to contain Seattle's league-leading running game in last week's affair.
-
Posted: 1/9/2019 2:08pm ET
Huddle Up: Gurley appears to be fine and ready to go against the Dallas Cowboys, which allowed just 73 rushing yards against the Seahawks in the Wild-Card round. The Cowboys also ranked fifth in the NFL with just 94.6 yards per game allowed on the ground during the regular season. However, if anyone is gonna bust them, it's Gurley, who remains an elite fantasy option in postseason formats and DFS play.
-
Posted: 1/8/2019 4:23pm ET
Huddle Up: When the Rams play on Saturday Gurley will have had one day shy of a month to recover from his knee inflammation. It's do or die now, but the Rams could still implement C.J. Anderson here and there to keep Gurley fresh. Stay tuned throughout the week for updates on Gurley's status, although he could remain limited.
-
Posted: 1/6/2019 6:41pm ET
Huddle Up: Gurley's status for the playoffs has never been in doubt, and McVay is just confirming that the star back should be rested and ready when the Rams take on the Dallas Cowboys. The Dallas defense is one of the best in the game, but Gurley's huge workload should still make him a strong option for playoff contests.
-
Posted: 12/31/2018 3:42pm ET
Huddle Up: C.J. Anderson has filled in splendidly for Gurley over the last two weeks, but Gurley is just a different animal. He's the key to a long playoff run for the Rams and arguably the No. 1 fantasy pick for next season.
-
Posted: 12/28/2018 3:56pm ET
Huddle Up: C.J. Anderson likely will receive most of the work at running back with Gurley ruled out and can be a No. 2 running back in standard leagues.
-
Posted: 12/28/2018 6:29am ET
Huddle Up: This is important because it makes it even more likely that he sits out of Week 17 to make sure he's healthy for the playoffs. Look for C.J. Anderson to be a high-end RB2 against the San Francisco 49ers.
-
Posted: 12/27/2018 1:37pm ET
Huddle Up: It may very well be the case that the Rams hold out Gurley in order to get him as fresh and as healthy as possible for a postseason run. C.J. Anderson's performance last week could make that decision easier. Anderson is a solid RB2 start at worst if Gurley is held out.
-
Posted: 12/24/2018 2:29pm ET
Huddle Up: Hopefully you were able to pick up C.J. Anderson off waivers in Week 16. He's the best insurance policy for Gurley owners who still have a fantasy title on the line.
-
Posted: 12/24/2018 6:07am ET
Huddle Up: C.J. Anderson would be a high-end RB2 after he had a 20-167-1 line in a clutch Week 16 performance if Gurley sits out again.
-
Posted: 12/23/2018 11:34am ET
Huddle Up: The in-and-out pendulum will not swing in the favor of Gurley's fantasy owners as the stud back will miss his first game of the season. John Kelly and C.J. Anderson as the primary backups.
-
Posted: 12/23/2018 8:07am ET
Huddle Up: Gurley should receive most the carries in the running game this week and can be a No. 1 fantasy running back in all leagues.
-
Posted: 12/22/2018 6:59am ET
Huddle Up: Gurley has not practiced all week due to a knee injury and was listed as questionable on the injury report. If he is deemed healthy enough to play, he should be started in all fantasy formats. C.J. Anderson would be the probable starter if Gurley is ruled out of Sunday's game, making him worthy of being stashed in seasonal leagues, while John Kelly is also a possibility to receive a handful of carries versus Arizona.
-
Posted: 12/21/2018 2:05pm ET
Huddle Up: Gurley probably will be a game-time decision for the Week 16 game, so owners will need to monitor the situation over the next few days. Gurley is a starting option in all leagues when he is healthy, but owners will need other options available in case Gurley is ruled out.
-
Posted: 12/20/2018 5:15pm ET
Huddle Up: While head coach Sean McVay said earlier Thursday that he expects his franchise running back to play, this is still pretty concerning, especially given the matchup. Even with Gurley active, if the Rams are handily taking care of last-place Arizona, it's probable he's rested throughout the second half. No matter what, owners must continue to ride the workhorse that got them this far in the first place.
-
Posted: 12/19/2018 4:58pm ET
Huddle Up: Gurley had to briefly come out of last week's loss opposite the Eagles, but looked fine otherwise. Thus, you have to believe he'll be in there against Arizona, and as long as that is the case, he'll bring along his usual RB1 star power in a favorable matchup.
-
Posted: 12/17/2018 4:55pm ET
Huddle Up: Owners will need to monitor Gurley's practice participation this week to see if he is in any danger of missing the Week 16 game. He is a must-start option in all leagues when he is available to play.
-
Posted: 12/17/2018 5:18am ET
Huddle Up: While the injury isn't serious, he could still be shut down for the final two games as this ailment gave the team a scare. Justin Davis (shoulder) could be worth stashing if his shoulder injury isn't severe.
-
Posted: 12/16/2018 8:42pm ET
Huddle Up: Gurley continues to roll up big yardage totals from scrimmage and he scored two more times. He'll try to keep up his scoring ways in Week 16 in Arizona as long as he is healthy.
-
Posted: 12/16/2018 7:17pm ET
Huddle Up: Well that's not what fantasy owners wanted to see. He is receiving treatment on the sidelines and he has his helmet on, so we'll stay on top of it and let you know if he is ruled out. It's a close game, so there is no danger of him being rested as a precaution.
-
Posted: 12/9/2018 9:31pm ET
Huddle Up: For the relatively few fantasy owners of Gurley who didn't get a first-round bye in their playoffs, this game likely eliminated them from their postseason. He only had six rushing yards at the half and the Rams simply didn't get him the ball enough after the break even as Goff was in the midst of the worst performance of his career. As much as this effort stings, Gurley should be started without hesitation when the Rams return home in Week 15 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
-
Posted: 12/2/2018 3:40pm ET
Huddle Up: Gurley continues to roll up huge numbers week in and week out, regardless of opponent, venue, etc. The fantasy party will continue next weekend on the road against the Chicago Bears.
-
Posted: 11/20/2018 2:57pm ET
Huddle Up: The Rams are on a bye now, so Gurley will have an extra week to get that ankle right. He was curiously a non-factor last night, but the ankle injury does explain his limited usage. Nonetheless, make sure he's in those starting lineups for Week 13.
-
Posted: 11/19/2018 9:36pm ET
Huddle Up: Gurley not scoring a touchdown in this 54-51 classic -- which is the first time two opponents reached 50 points in an NFL game -- has to be a contender for most ironic thing in NFL history. The RB1's incredible touchdown streak may have ended at 13 straight games but he's still probably the best tailback in the game.
-
Posted: 11/17/2018 3:40pm ET
Huddle Up: You're starting Gurley no matter who he's playing against, but especially in what should be a barn burner against the Kansas City Chiefs.
-
Posted: 11/16/2018 4:11pm ET
Huddle Up: Gurley will have a favorable matchup this week and could receive a lot of touches since the game could be high scoring. He is a must-start option in all fantasy leagues.
-
Posted: 11/11/2018 8:27pm ET
Huddle Up: It says something about the season Gurley is having when this type of line just seems pedestrian, but he's been the top back in fantasy for a reason.
-
Posted: 11/9/2018 2:55pm ET
Huddle Up: Gurley will receive plenty of touches this week and will be a No. 1 fantasy running back in all leagues this week.
-
Posted: 11/8/2018 4:54pm ET
Huddle Up: Gurley should be a starting fantasy option in all fantasy leagues as long as he is healthy.
-
Posted: 11/7/2018 5:43pm ET
Huddle Up: Gurley is one of the top fantasy players in the NFL and should be a weekly starting option no matter the matchup.
-
Posted: 11/4/2018 6:14pm ET
Huddle Up: The Saints actually did a pretty good job containing Gurley, although they weren't able to prevent him from getting into the end zone again. Next up is a visit from the Seattle Seahawks in Week 10. He had 113 total yards from scrimmage with three rushing scores Oct. 7 in Seattle in the first meeting.
-
Posted: 10/28/2018 7:45pm ET
Huddle Up: Gurley has just been an absolutely buzzsaw, heads and tails better than anyone else picked in Round 1 of fantasy, or any other round for that matter. The Rams will travel to meet the Saints in Week 9.
-
Posted: 10/21/2018 8:11pm ET
Huddle Up: Gurley has rushed for two or more touchdowns in each of his past three outings, and he has 11 rushing scores with three receiving touchdowns overall. He continues to do exactly what fantasy owners expected of their first-round draft pick. The Rams meet the Packers in Week 8.
-
Posted: 10/13/2018 11:10pm ET
Huddle Up: For some more perspective on how impressive that number is, New Orleans RB Alvin Kamara ranks second with 20, while New England Patriots RB Sony Michel is third with 17. No other running back has half of Gurley's total. The number is not only a reflection on the Rams' trust in Gurley, but also how proficient the offense has been in general. It's not like owners needed another reason to keep Gurley in their lineups, but he'll be in the running for overall RB1 honors this week against the Denver Broncos.
-
Posted: 10/12/2018 3:12pm ET
Huddle Up: Gurley, who played his college ball in hot and humid Georgia, will likely see something he hasn't in his pro career - snow. There is a chance of light snow with sub-freezing temperatures all day in Denver on Sunday. It might be a slippery surface, but the Rams could have a mostly run-based attack which benefits Gurley even more than usual. That's bad news for his fantasy opponents. Remember, Isaiah Crowell went for over 200 yards against this Denver D in Week 5.
-
Posted: 10/11/2018 4:16pm ET
Huddle Up: Gurley should be ready to play in Week 6 and will continue to be involved in the running and passing game. He is a must-start player in all fantasy leagues no matter the opponent.
-
Posted: 10/10/2018 3:57pm ET
Huddle Up: Gurley was simply getting a mid-week veteran's rest and there is nothing to be worried about. He'll be just fine for the Week 6 game against the Denver Broncos, although it's possible he might have to deal with snow during Sunday's game. That's something to watch.
